The Dell dimension 4700 requires PC2-3200 ram and not PC3200. The difference is PC2 = DDR2 memory and just PC is DDR1. There's a big difference between the two especially by the fact that DDR2 memory modules have 240 pins where as DDR1 will have 184 pins making it impossible for you to accidentally fit your system with a DDR1 dimm.
So basically you need to buy DDR2 3200 (400mhz) memory which is also known as PC2-3200 (400mhz).
